Teaching Through Connection Workshop

Empowering teachers to lead with calm, compassion, and confidence.

Teaching is heart work — and yet, it can often feel overwhelming to hold space for so many children’s needs while managing your own.

The Teaching Through Connection workshop is designed to help teachers reconnect with themselves and their classrooms through the science of regulation, communication, and mindful presence.

When teachers feel regulated and supported, classrooms become calmer, kinder, and more connected spaces for learning.

What You’ll Learn

In this workshop, teachers and education staff explore how the nervous system and brain development shape behavior, emotions, and learning.

You’ll discover how self-regulation forms the foundation for co-regulation, and how modeling calm, compassionate responses — instead of reactive ones — creates emotionally safe, engaged classrooms where students can thrive.

Through interactive learning, reflection, and group activities, you’ll gain:

  • A practical understanding of how the brain and body respond to stress and emotions

  • Strategies to self-regulate under pressure and model calm leadership

  • Tools to strengthen emotional connection with students and colleagues

  • Practices to bring more grace, ease, and empathy into your daily teaching

Extend the Learning

Once your staff has experienced Teaching Through Connection, you can build upon the foundation with one or more in-depth workshops:

  • Pillars of Non-Violent Communication & Empowered Conversations

  • Nervous System Regulation Deep Dive & Sensory Calming Tools for Teachers

  • Positive Discipline for the Classroom

  • Making Sense of Emotional Intelligence

  • Mastering Mindsight

  • Promoting Equality in Your Classroom: Ending Gender Stereotypes

Hi! I'm Laura

I’m the founder of Extra Roots Transformational Parenting, a mother of three, and a former educator.

My passion for child development deepened through my own parenting journey — when I realized that books and advice alone weren’t enough to create real change at home.

Training as a transformational parenting coach helped me connect the dots between neuroscience, attachment theory, and nervous system regulation — and understand that to meet children’s needs, we must first meet our own.

As a former teacher, I saw how powerful this work could be in education. Through my Transformational Teaching Workshops, I help teachers gain self-awareness, unpack patterns, and develop evidence-based strategies to bring more calm, confidence, and connection into their classrooms.

Empowered teachers create safe, inclusive, and joyful classrooms — and that benefits everyone: schools, students, and teachers themselves.

If you believe in this too, I’d love to support your school.

Why it matters?

Teachers are role models of emotional intelligence. When they feel supported, grounded, and equipped with the tools to respond instead of react, they create ripple effects — calmer classrooms, happier children, and healthier learning environments.

Investing in your teachers’ emotional and professional growth is one of the most impactful decisions a school can make.
